Today we begin our journey to the “Big Apple”. You’ll have lots of time to get acquainted with your fellow travelers as we make our way to our exciting destination. Upon arrival at our Massachusetts hotel the options are many. You may prefer to dine at a nearby restaurant or explore the nearby shops.

Day 2 (Friday) New York City

After a continental breakfast we travel through Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. We arrive in New York City early afternoon. What sights you’ll see! You will be amazed at the traffic, the people and the lights of the “city that never sleeps”. Check into the comfort of the Belvedere Hotel in the heart of Manhattan’s theatre district – just 5 minutes from Times Square. Once settled in, enjoy a walkabout with your tour director to familiarize yourself with the area. Your director will have many choices for dining this evening including spots along iconic Restaurant Row, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, and the Olive Garden at Times Square. Tonight is yours at leisure – you may wish to catch a Broadway Show or see the spectacular view from the Empire State Building. It’s an exciting city. (CB)

Day 3 (Saturday ) New York City

This morning you are in for a treat. Journey back in time to Broadway’s early years full of roof garden theaters, tap shoes, and theatrical con artists. Learn the true difference between a Broadway theater and an Off-Broadway theater and revel in the secrets hidden in plain sight in some of Broadway’s most famous theaters. Hear how a show is created from the first rehearsal to opening night and all of the craziness in between. Explore the spirits that may still be lurking in the shadows backstage with a few unbelievable ghost stories.

Enjoy your afternoon at leisure before tonight’s Tony Award winning Broadway performance of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. You will be thrilled at the energetic music and inspiring story based on Carole King’s life. Beautiful also won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album in 2015. Maybe you’ll want to listen to the CD before you see the show!

Day 4 (Sunday ) New York City

The morning is for you to decide, whether it’s a Harbour Cruise, the Chrysler Building’s art-deco architecture, shopping at South Street Seaport or 5th Avenue. Why not make a visit to Saks, the MOMA, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral…. the choices are many.

Just make sure to be back in time to enjoy our main attraction…a 3 pm matinee performance of the heart-warming, foot-stomping, Tony-winning hit show COME FROM AWAY, based on the true story of 38 planes and 7,000 passengers diverted to Gander, Newfoundland for the week after 9/11.

Plenty of time to celebrate your last night in Manhattan…maybe dinner in Soho, the Meat Packing District or Hell’s Kitchen?

Day 5 (Monday ) New York –Portland Maine

Say goodbye to the “Big Apple” this morning as we make our way to Wrentham, MA for some shopping and sightseeing. We make our way to our hotel in Portland for the night. Enjoy your last evening with your newfound friends. A time to relax after a busy holiday in exciting New York.

Day 6 (Tuesday ) Home

Today is a traveling day but still some sights to see. Maybe a little time for shopping on the way at one of Portland’s newest shops. A lunch stop will be made (on own). You will enjoy your trip home, the time will fly. Lots of memories to share with friends and family back home. (CB)
